FIRST AID INTERVENTIONS TO THE WORLD HERITAGE SITE OF HATRA (IRAQ) AFTER DAESH OCCUPATION

The archaeological site of Hatra (northern Iraq, Nineveh Governorate) was occupied by DAESH between mid2014 and April 2017. The archaeological area, used for military training, was targeted by jihadist militants for propaganda purposes: much irreplaceable and unique Hatrene art has been vandalized or severely damaged, threatening to further erase an already under-studied field. As a World Heritage site Hatra was placed on the World Heritage in Danger list on July 1st 2015.
